We had one of the best family days in months at the weekend. The sun was shining, the kids were getting on and we’d all slept well. We were invited by our friends Joel and Sam who run The Outdoors Project to come and road test their new summer set up at The Macs Farm in Ditchling, West Sussex.
You may have heard of The Mac’s Farm after their appearance on the One Show recently rehoming some of their beautiful free range hens. The organic Free Range Egg farm is a family run and owned by, Susie Mac, her Husband Danny and two brother’s Richard and Andrew in the beautiful South Downs. The space is stunning, and only a stones throw from the picture box village of Ditchling.
This year The Macs Farm have invited The Outdoors Project along to run some forest school workshops and activities for their campers and also non campers can join them for Sunday sessions if booked in advance (the farm runs a small campsite for a limited period over the Summer, it books up fast apparently so check it out now). Each Sunday morning parents can relax (or join in) whilst the kids have the option of joining in with bushcraft skills, shelter building or nerf games.
The Outdoors Project are based in Brighton and run forest schools, birthday parties, Saplings pre school classes, school workshops, after school club, and much more, all outdoors and in all weathers. This is totally my idea of heaven with three boys to entertain (and exhaust) each day. Both C and J have been to their clubs before (see previous Saplings blog post) and they are in their element.
The boys were road testing some gorgeous clothes designed by Tracey at The Bonnie Mob, they came away with mud and grass stains but the clothes have washed really well, full blog post to follow about the new brand find.
The Outdoors Project are running holiday clubs up at The Macs Farm all summer, we will be going back there to camp and J will be going to some of the clubs (they are for ages 5-12). If you live in Sussex and love your children being outdoors then I cannot recommend The Outdoors Project enough.
The Outdoors Project are running holiday clubs this summer in St. Ann’s Well Gardens, Queens Park and Hove Park as well as all new Clubs at The Macs Farm.
