What parents do for their kids… Fire station open day

This morning was the local fire station open day. I thought that it would be just a few people and a chance to sit in a fire engine.

I was wrong.

Jack and I joined a fairly long queue for a chance to go in a fire engine and on the roads for a five minute drive.

Once we had been standing in the queue for about twenty minutes I realised that we weren’t moving very quickly at all, so I asked Jack if he was sure that he wanted to go on the ride. He said yes and he was determined to wait.

The photo above shows that he wasn’t too happy!!

Here he is in the phone above after a TWO hour queue on the 5 minute journey we went on. As the time went by in the queue I thought that we couldn’t leave possibly leave as we were so nearly there!

Was it worth it?

Yes without a doubt. Jack will never forget the day that he rode in a real fire engine and neither will I.

Afterwards we went to one of the many stalls and Jack chose chow mein and chicken satay sticks to share.
He loved the different tastes and we came home full and happy.

In heatwave weather it wasn’t pleasant standing around all that time but I got two hours with my eldest boy just chatting and looking around and his face when the siren went off inside the engine was worth it all.

I'm a mum to 3 boys under five who loves nothing more than a good coffee and a book, the kids however have other ideas. My blog is about my life with three loud and energetic kids; where we go and what we love.
